Buttercup Textile Design
My Passion
Textile design is not only my profession, but my passion. For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by the beauty and diversity of nature, especially flowers. Their bright colors, delicate shapes and captivating scents have always inspired me.
In my work as a textile designer, my focus is clearly on the subject of flowers. I love capturing the natural splendour of flowers in my designs and turning them into fabric. Translating the image of a flower into a simple repetition is a source of joy and creative fulfillment for me.
For me it is, above all, the bright colors that nature has adorned us with that inspire me again and again. I love bringing these colors to life in my textiles and sharing them with other people.
Stylized images of flowers in bright and bold colors are my speciality. I find it fascinating how the beauty of a flower can be expressed through simple lines and shapes. My designs are known for their simplicity and vibrancy, which make them so appealing and attractive.
Each of my designs tells a story of beauty, the joy of life and the infinite diversity of nature. And if my textiles can help bring this beauty into the world and touch people's hearts, then I know that I have found my dream job.
My journey into the world of design began at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland, where I studied art and design with a focus on textile design from 1992 to 1996. These years were formative for me in terms of my professional development. During this time I also married my ex-husband and moved to Germany, where we started a family together. Today I am the proud mother of two wonderful sons.
After graduating and moving to Germany, I did not work actively in the field of design for many years. Instead, I devoted myself mainly to my children, but also to teaching English, a job that I have enjoyed a lot and which I continue to do. But at some point I felt a strong desire to return to my creative roots and develop my design skills further.
It was clear that I needed to improve my abilities and familiarize myself with the new digital tools in order to be successful in the modern design environment. So I decided to take tutoring classes in Scotland. I discovered the world of Adobe Photoshop and began to delve deeply into it.
Learning new techniques and programmes was an exciting challenge for me, and I felt revitalized and inspired with every improvement I made.
Today I am grateful for the experience I have gained and for the opportunities that are open to me. I am determined to continue on my path as a designer and to live out my passion for art and design in all its facets.
Online Shop
Nearly all products that I sell online have been sewn by myself and are "one of a kind". That means there may be only one of each item in stock.
I have been sewing since I was a child. One of the things I remember sewing was an outfit for my mother. I sewed a beautiful red and white skirt and blouse for her and she wore them a lot.
Being able to get fabric printed displaying my own designs is still very rewarding for me. In addition to that, it is also very fulfilling making products from my own printed material. I hope you enjoy having a look at what I have to offer, including some items made from recycled fabrics.
